Plagiarism and Publication Ethics Statement

Commitment to Publication Ethics

Longman Publishers is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. We expect authors, reviewers, editors, editorial board members, and publishing staff to uphold internationally recognized principles of responsible research and publication ethics throughout the submission, peer-review, editorial, and publication processes.

Our editorial policies are designed to promote originality, fairness, accountability, and scientific integrity while protecting the credibility of the scholarly record.

Plagiarism Policy

Longman Publishers publishes only original, unpublished, and ethically conducted scholarly work. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all submitted manuscripts are their own original work and are not simultaneously under consideration by another publisher or journal.

Plagiarism is considered a serious violation of publication ethics and includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, figures, tables, images, or data from published or unpublished sources without appropriate acknowledgment or permission.

  • Presenting another person's ideas, methods, analyses, or findings as one's own.

  • Self-plagiarism or redundant publication without proper disclosure and citation.

  • Excessive paraphrasing that substantially reproduces previously published material.

  • Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data, images, or results.

  • Citation manipulation or inappropriate referencing intended to misrepresent originality or influence scholarly metrics.

Submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process. Manuscripts identified with substantial plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct may be rejected without review. Where ethical concerns are discovered after publication, appropriate editorial actions, including corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions, may be taken.

  • Obtain all required ethical approvals for research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data, where applicable.

  • Disclose financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the research or its interpretation.

  • Promptly notify the editor if significant errors are identified after publication.

Research Integrity

Longman Publishers takes allegations of research misconduct seriously. Suspected cases of plagiarism, duplicate submission, duplicate publication, fabricated or falsified data, inappropriate authorship, image manipulation, citation manipulation, or undisclosed conflicts of interest will be investigated through established editorial procedures.

Where misconduct is confirmed, appropriate actions may include:

  • Rejection of the manuscript.

  • Request for clarification or revision.

  • Publication of corrections or errata.

  • Retraction of published articles.

  • Notification of the authors' affiliated institutions or funding organizations, where appropriate.

  • Restriction of future submissions in cases of serious or repeated ethical violations.

Human and Animal Research Ethics

Research involving human participants or animals must comply with applicable institutional, national, and international ethical standards. Authors should clearly state that appropriate ethical approval was obtained from a recognized ethics committee or institutional review board (IRB), where required.

For studies involving human participants, informed consent should be obtained before participation. Authors should also ensure the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of all participants are protected.

Conflict of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the publication process. Declared conflicts of interest will be evaluated and managed to ensure objective editorial decisions.

Data Availability and Transparency

Authors are encouraged to retain the data supporting their published findings and, where appropriate, make such data available through recognized repositories or upon reasonable request. Manuscripts should include sufficient methodological detail to enable reproducibility and independent verification of research findings.

Corrections and Retractions

Longman Publishers is committed to maintaining the accuracy and reliability of the scholarly record. If significant errors, ethical concerns, or research misconduct are identified after publication, the publisher may issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern in accordance with established editorial procedures.
